As always My Bee Supply is looking to expand our sources of quality Package bees for our customers. In 2025 we will be bringing in Caucasian Hybrid package bees which are becoming more popular due to their longer tongues increasing honey production and ability to thrive in colder climates. In my past experience with Caucasians, they were very gentle and a pleasure to work.
Caucasian honey bees possess a long proboscis/lounge. Caucasian honey bees use it as a straw for reaching nectar that is deep within plants. For instance red clover has a bloom that its nectar is too deep for most honey bees to access, but Caucasians can.
Since Caucasian honey bees are too large to fully climb inside these plants, they use their proboscis to gather nectar. As a result of its long proboscis, the Caucasian honey bee has the advantage of reaching nectar that other kinds of bees would be unable to reach.
Similar to Italians in production and like the Carniolan in their gentle temperament.
These queens are Hybrids meaning that they are daughters of a purebred line of Caucasians but then they are open mated making them hybrids. All packages are technically hybrids because we cannot control the mating habits of the queens in the package.
Whether you know it or not this is agriculture and Queen rearing and packages are weather dependent. Pickup date may vary a week or so depending on the weather. As we get closer I will email or call with exact delivery time. Please make sure you include a contact phone number with your order.
