In 2024 we will be bringing in Canadian Buckfast Queens which are resistant to Tracheal mites and do well in cool climates. Buckfast bees originated at Buckfast Abby in England by Brother Adams back in the 1920s. (read the book "Beekeeping at Buckfast Abby" its a good read) The Canada Buckfast breeding program used those original genetics in their breeding program https://hbrc.ca/history-of-buckfast-bees-in-ontario/ They are very gentle, easy to work with and are excellent honey producers. They have a low tendency to swarm and are economical in the use of winter stores.
Queens are all marked which is included in this price.
